The University of Milan (UNIMI) is one of the largest universities in Europe, with about 60,000 students and permanent teaching and research staffs totaling about 2,000. Offering 134 undergraduate and graduate courses, 21 doctoral schools and 92 specialization schools, it consistently ranks as one of the best universities of Italy, both overall and in specific subject areas and it has received important international recognitions. <\/p>\n\n\n

FRANCESCA C. VILLATA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Francesca C. Villata is Full professor of International Law at the University of Milan, where she teaches Private International Law, International Contracts and Arbitration, International Financial Markets Law, Cross-Border Family Law. She has been a member of several legislative panels, such as the Expert group on conflict of laws regarding securities and claims (European Commission, DG Justice), the DLT Governing Law and Jurisdiction Working Group (Financial Market Law Committee, London) and the Working-group for the implementation of private international law rules on civil partnerships (Italian Ministry of Justice). Moreover, Professor Villata serves as managing editor of the Rivista di diritto internazionale privato e processuale and, since 2013, she has been working on several DG Justice funded project in the area of EU private international law, as coordinator and\/or member (EFFORTS, IC2BE, EUFam\u2019s I, EUFam\u2019s II, EUPillar, Insolvency, Suxreg). Finally, she is a member of the International Evaluation Board of Charles University in Prague, as well as of the EU Law Committee of the Bar Council of Milan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Ilaria Viarengo, J.D., is Full Professor of International Law at the University of Milan, appointed for courses in Private International Family Law and International Human Rights Law; Director of the Department of International Legal Historical-Political Studies; Member of the Academic Senate; numerous publications in Italian, English and German, specifically in Private International Law; coordinator and member of several DG Justice projects.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

ALESSANDRA LANG<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alessandra Lang is Associate Professor of European Union Law. Her main fields of research concern free movement of persons and EU citizenship, implementation of EU law on the free movement of persons in Italy, EU migration policy, EU external relations, EU Common Foreign and Security Policy, EU enlargement. She is the author of two monographs, co-editor of four books, and author of about one hundred papers, published in legal journals or books.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

CHIARA RAGNI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PhD, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Chiara Ragni is Associate Professor of International Law at the University of Milan since 2015. After obtaining a PHD in EU and International Law, she became, in 2005, researcher at the University of Milan, where she coordinated, from 2013 to 2016, a Jean Monnet Module on European Family Law and Human Rights, and from 2020 a 4 EU+ Project on \u201cMigration Studies and Societies\u201d . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout her career, Chiara Ragni has been frequently involved in national and international research projects, conferences and lectures on different topics ranging from Human Rights and International Criminal Law to International Family Law, International Law and Science.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr Jacopo Re is Assistant Professor of International Law at the University of Milan, where he teaches International Law and International Organisation Law. His main research areas are private international law (succession, gifts, and contracts), nationality law and EU citizens\u2019 rights law. He takes part in national and international research projects, as well as conferences and lectures in the abovementioned fields.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lenka V\u00e1lkov\u00e1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lenka V\u00e1lkov\u00e1 is lecturer of international family law and post-doctoral research fellow at Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Milano, her research project focuses on the private international law and new technologies, in particular on the distributed ledger technologies. She earned her PhD qualification in Private International Law (topic: choice-of-court agreements in commercial, family and succession matters) from the same university and previously she graduated from the Faculty of Law at Masaryk University Brno, Czech Republic. Lenka V\u00e1lkov\u00e1 is author and co-author of number of publications concerning private international law and she participated in different projects funded by the European Commission<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

GIULIA GABRIELLI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr Giulia Gabrielli earned her PhD in International Law from the University of Milan, where she defended a thesis on Conflict-related Sexual Violence. As from January 2022 she is research fellow at the same University: her research interests lie in international humanitarian law and international criminal law, with specific regards to the digitalization of armed conflict and the increasing use of digital means and methods of warfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As research fellow of the University of Milan, she takes part in the activities of the Chairs of International Law, International Law of Armed Conflict, and International Human Rights Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Edoardo Benvenuti<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Edoardo Benvenuti is PhD Candidate in International Law at the University of Milan. His research project tackles the issue of jurisdiction in civil and commercial matters over defendants domiciled in Third Countries, and it focuses on the perspective of the right of access to effective judicial remedies in the EU. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As PhD Candidate at the University of Milan, he takes part in the activities of the Chairs of Private International Law, International Contract Law and Arbitration, International Family Law, and International Human Rights Law.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
