Doctoral study programme

International doctoral conference “EU Child” was held 15.-16.  March 2018 at the Faculty of Law Osijek within the activities of Jean Monnet Chair in Cross-border Movement of a Child in the EU. The conference was intended for independent presentations by doctoral candidates, and for co-au- thored papers presented by candidates and mentors.The research of 17 doctoral candidates from altogether eight countries was presented at the conference. Four researches were conducted and presented by colaboration between mentors and their candidates. The topics presented within three thematic sessions referred to various aspects of cross-border movement of children, chil- dren’s rights in family law proceedings, the rights of migrant children, diplomatic status of a par- ents with reference to the rights of their children, children’s capacity to give informed consent, access to justice for children with disabilities, child’s best interest under EU family reunification law, child trafficking, child’s position in a cross-border successions procedure, and child’s right to property. It should be emphasized that some sessions were opened by plenary lectures held by prominent professors from Croatia and from abroad: Thalia Kruger (University of Antwerp), Sze- ibert Orsolya (Eötvös Loránd University Budapest), Iris Goldner Lang (University of Zagreb), and Sanja Marjanović (University of Niš). The conference was held in English language, which will also be the language of publication of conference papers in special issue of Pravni vjesnik.
