Brief course description

The aim of the course is to examine new and fast-developing area of law. The course will analyze the EU environmental regulation, giving an insight into the means that are at our disposal and the future possibilities in favour of the protection of the environment. Special consideration is devoted to actual questions in relation to the environmental policy and law of the European Union. The course aims at the examination and development of EU environmental policy and law, its objectives, principles and areas for action. The course examines inter alia, the horizontal measures; the right to a clean environment; EU energy and climate change policy, the implementation of EU environmental law by the EU Member States; the infringement procedures. The course will also explain the role of the ECJ and of national courts in this area. Other part of the course will have an impact to the ISO 14000. Norma requires that a company develop an environmental policy, set objectives in order to meet the policy, monitor progress towards objectives, mitigate environmental problems and continually revise the environmental management system (EMS) in order to ensure continual improvement of environmental performance. Center of discussions of the course related to the globalization of business, trade agreements, and environmental protection, beyond the ISO 14000, will be devoted to the "sustainable development perspective" as well.
