Course content:


Concept, subjects and sources of copyright and intellectual property rights; comparation of copyright to other legal disciplines.
Historical development of copyright, international documents (conventions, treaties, agreements).
Copyright protection in civil law: the initiation of proceedings; legal remedies. Copyright protection in criminal and administrative proceedings.

 

Course objectives:
 
The student should be able to present and explain the basic criteria for distinguishing copyright from related rights, to define fundamental institutions of copyright, to explain copyright protection.

 

The expected learning outcomes:
 
The student should be able to:

1. determine the difference between copyright and related rights;
2. define and explain the fundamental institutions of copyright;
3.explain copyright protection.

 

General skills that will be acquired after passing the course:
 
a) general competencies:
- summarizing and identifying key facts and elements;
- systematic and meaningful argumentation of opinion;
- oral and written expression.

b) specific competencies:
- interpretation and differentiation of the basic concepts and institutes;
- recognition and understanding of the possibilities of applying the rules of copyright to specific situations.

 

Type of Teaching: Lectures and independent work

Student requirements: Regular attendance of lectures. Development of programming tasks.

Forms of assessment: Exam in oral form
