Legal education in the digital age – why do we need MOOCs?

WEBINAR

As part of Open Education Week 2023, on 8 March 2023, the webinar “Legal education in the digital age – why do we need MOOCs?” took place. The webinar was organized in cooperation with the University Computing Center (SRCE) and the Faculty of Law Osijek, as partners in the international project “Time to Become Digital in Law (DIGinLaw)”, funded under the Erasmus+ programme.

In addition to the general dissemination of the DIGinLaw project, the purpose of the webinar was to present the 12 developed MOOCs at EQF level 7 and 8. Content-wise, MOOCs are focused on attractive topics in the field of digitalization of law (cross-border dispute resolution in the digital age, consumer protection in the digital age, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrencies in international private law, etc.).

MOOCs as the results of the DIGinLaw project also represent a kind of novelty in the context of thematic content, but also teaching methodology in higher education in the field of law. Therefore, the webinar was an excellent opportunity to consider the potential of MOOCs for legal education at EQF level 7 and for lifelong learning.

The lecturers of the webinar were members of the DIGinLaw team of the Faculty of Law Osijek: Prof. Mirela Župan, Prof. Paula Poretti, Martina Drventić Barišin, PhD and Jura Golub, LLM.
