The University of Barcelona was founded in 1450. Its foremost amongst the Spanish Universities, in regard to both course offerings and research. It encompasses 16 faculties, 60 departments, 16 libraries and 1 research and development unit. Its educational offer is composed of 73 different degrees, 172 master courses, 47 PhD programs, 13 Erasmus Mundus’ master courses, among others. The UB is intensely committed to research in all fields of knowledge and with a high international impact. The European Commission has recognized the UB’s high commitment to equal opportunities and its capacity to attract talent by having a favorable work environment with the HRS4R accreditation, and it’s also a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). The UB also owns 16 research centers, 1,111 ongoing research projects, and was awarded with 190 Horizon 2020 contracts, as well as 28 projects granted by the European Council of Research.
