Mirela Župan

Mirela Župan is full professor at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek Faculty of Law. She is head of PhD programme in Law. She obtained a PhD in Law by the University of Rijeka in 2009 on the topic of child maintenance obligations. She hold LLM on Law of European Integrations with a master thesis on international contractual obligations. Among her research interests are family, succession and personal status in private international law, digitalization of cross-border proceedings as well as cross-border legal protection of (companion) animal welfare. Most of her work deals with intersection of domestic PIL – unified EU / HCCH PIL, EU law principles - general standards of international human rights. Among other matters, she has specifically dealt with private international law status issues: personal name, surrogacy, child’s status, parenthood, recognition of status acquired abroad, identity issues in cross-border law of persons and families. She also deals with recognition of foreign judgements and public documents. She engages in scientific projects and collaborations within several research groups. Her activities go beyond classical academic ones: she performs judicial training for ERA, EJTN, national judicial academies and other stakeholders.  She has been nominated as an expert in revision of Brussels II bis. Constant dialogue with academia, practitioners, judges, policy makers and other stakeholders is confirmed by events she has co-organized and participated to.

Martina Drventić Barišin

Martina Drventić Barišin, PhD, is a postdoc research assistant at the Faculty of Law Osijek. She has graduated from the Faculty of Law in Osijek in 2013 and has finished the Doctoral Study Programme of Law in 2022. Her research is focused on the private international family and status law. She participated as young researcher in several international research groups within projects dealing with the cross-border protection of children and families - Facilitating cross-border family life: towards a common European understanding – EuFams II and Protection of Abducting Mothers in Return Proceedings: Intersection between Domestic Violence and Parental Child Abduction – POAM. She performed as a research associate on the national scientific project Cross-border removal and retention of a child - Croatian practice and European expectations (2017) as well as researcher on a project under Croatian Science Foundation.

Andreja Juričević Petričević

Andreja Juričević Petričević, LLM, is a head of the Office for projects and international cooperation at the Faculty of Law Osijek. She graduated from the Faculty of Law Osijek in 2008 and finished postgraduate studies (EQF level 7) at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Zagreb in 2014.
