COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

Teaching in the subject of Criminal law-general part consists of enhancing knowledge of key parts of criminal law dogmatics and sentencing law. For this purpose, a comparative approach is necessary in order for the students to gain insight into some significant foreign criminal justice systems (German, Austrian, Swiss, French, Anglo-American...etc.). It points to recent trends in contemporary criminal law dogmatics of the general part of criminal law and their influence on Croatian criminal legislation and the need to adapt the practice of Croatian courts to them. Areas of special significance for Croatian criminal law dogmatics should be analyzed in particular (new ideas about self-defence and necessity, difficulties related to misconceptions, especially the misconception of illegality that is difficult to accept in court practice, the issue of guilt in command responsibility, the problem of introducing excusable excess) or have recently been the subject of extensive scientific research. Issues related to participation are also addressed, for which solutions from German criminal law are of particular importance.
