COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

This course involves working on selected factual scenarios of specific criminal offenses in order to discuss legal issues and analyze case law. It covers material from both the general and special parts of criminal law, as well as criminal procedural law. The purpose of the course is to test and apply theoretical knowledge of substantive and procedural criminal law through practical examples. Teaching is guided by the principle exemplis discimus—we learn through examples. Instructors do not lecture ex cathedra, but instead present tasks in the form of factual scenarios, which students resolve through joint discussion. The tasks typically contain one or more contentious legal questions, most often based on actual cases from domestic judicial practice.
