COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

1. Rationalisation of government - legislative vs executive elements of government, 2. Constitutional law (material and procedural elements), 3. Characteristics and functioning of the parliament, 4. Legislative function of the parliament, 5. Constitutional procedural law development, 6. Constitutionalism and judicial activism, 7. Constitutionalism and judicial activism in making and developing a new, European legal setting, 8. Constitutional control of laws, 9. New European democracies and judicial activism, 10. Judicial activism and constitutional court procedure in the Republic of Croatia

Course learning outcomes

Systematic and objective analysis of functioning of the political system in the Republic of Croatia and of representative democracy in general, Analysis of the constitutional court elements and procedure, Analyse and evaluate the realisation of the principle of separation of powers, Deep constitutional law analysis and judgment analysis of the roles of the parliament, the government and the constitutional court in state and society, Envision adequate legislative and practical solutions to the problems of legislation,
