COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

Concept and forms of religion. The social role of religion (on social policy and social care). Religion and values. Contradictions surrounding the place and role of religion in public discourse (selected topics: privacy of religion and the "religious", abortion and euthanasia, education, civil and sexual education in Croatia, marriage and family, homoparentalism, social teachings of the Catholic Church and other religious communities present in Croatia ). The confessional structure of Croatia. Religious image of Croatia. Religion and social activity in Croatia.

Course learning outcomes

Distinguish between theoretical approaches to religion., Define the basic terms of the social role of religion., Recognize and compare social expectations of religion in solving social issues., Group and describe the key categories of the relationship between religion and society., Explain and illustrate the fundamental methods of social activity of religions., Analyze and discuss important differences in the approaches of different religions to social issues., Propose solutions and changes in the social activities of religious communities.,

ADDITIONAL FACTS
During the semester, all students write an introductory paper, which, along with the oral colloquium, is an integral part of the final grade. Full-time students are required to regularly attend lectures (minimum 70% attendance at lectures), which is also included in their final grade. In the case of distance learning, regular students will also be required to regularly attend lectures via the Zoom application, which they will have to connect to with the camera on in order to record their actual attendance. Part-time students will also be offered distance learning with the obligation to have the camera on. Students who do not have the camera on will be removed from class.
