| Course content |
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with mental health issues and the specific characteristics of various disorders—considering developmental stage, age, and gender—as well as with risk and protective factors for mental health and strategies for strengthening protective factors and mitigating risk factors within the community; it also aims to raise student awareness regarding the importance of appropriate communication with individuals experiencing mental health difficulties. The course content covers: Mental health problems and disorders, symptoms and associated issues, and etiology (depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, suicidality, substance abuse, and psychoses). Specific characteristics of disorders in childhood, adolescence, and old age. Risk and protective factors for mental health. Preventive measures and interventions for protecting and promoting the mental health of individuals, tailored to gender and age (e.g., addiction prevention, empowerment, suicide prevention, crisis interventions). Communication with individuals suffering from various mental disorders. |
