COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

Basic concepts in the sociology of the family. The emergence of the sociology of the family: precursors and context. Theoretical approaches to the family. Social functions of marriage and the family. The family's impact on child development. Family conflict and abuse. Modern and postmodern forms of family life. The family and economic life. Social inequalities and the family. Politics and the family – family policy. The Croatian family: social development and comparisons with other countries.

Define and distinguish between basic terminology related to the family., Distinguish between theoretical approaches to the family., Identify and compare the main functions of the family., To analyze the impact of external and internal factors on family development and structure., To analyze and discuss contemporary issues related to family and marriage.,
