| COURSE DESCRIPTION |
|---|
| Course content |
The course is based on the fact that future social workers will work in a multilingual and multicultural environment of the city of Osijek and the surrounding rural areas. The main goal of the course is to acquaint students with historical facts about languages and cultures that contributed to the creation of multilingualism and multiculturalism as part of the identity of the city of Osijek and Slavonia and Baranja and to make them aware of the importance of nurturing minority languages and cultural identities of future users of social workers' services as a basis for developing personal identity, self-esteem and human dignity at the micro level. At the macro level, this awareness should serve as the basis for building a society of tolerance, respect for diversity and coexistence of different peoples, cultures, languages, and religions. In this way, in accordance with the general outcomes of the Social Work Study, students will learn to strengthen families in communities with minority populations and help in solving problems in the immediate and wider community. They will learn to advocate for human rights and fair interpersonal relations as well as promote the equality of all citizens, regardless of their language, religion, culture, or ethnicity. |
