COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

The goal of this course is to acquire key knowledge about the family, theoretical approaches in its study, development, dynamics of functioning, typology, needs and values, and the role of social work in preventing and overcoming families. Conceptual definition of family, roles and functions. Theoretical reflections on the family and its development path through time. Family typology. Family life cycles. Family roles and competencies. Fatherhood - motherhood - parenthood. The family as a protective and risk factor in the growth, development, maturation, education and socialization of children. Family relationships and their predictors. Approaches in practical dealing with family difficulties. Family interview. Coping with broken relationships. Addictions, psychological disorders and antisocial behavior of members and meeting family needs, interpersonal relationships and family stability. A family with broken relationships. Family dissolution and social work. Mediation procedure, divorce procedure, follow-up and interventions after divorce.

ADDITIONAL FACTS
Students should regularly attend lectures, exercises and seminars. Prepare and present a seminar paper and hand over the written papers determined in the exercises to their supervisors. The final grade is formed as a function of regular class attendance (minimum 70%, with the fact that full attendance at exercises is mandatory), activity during class, success in colloquiums, quality of written papers, and the written and oral part of the exam.
