COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

How societies function? Why is there inequality between societies? Why some groups in society have better chances? Why do we think that things change to worse, for instance that there is a dissolution of family? How does technology affects us? These are some sociological questions that we will be dealing with in Basics of sociology. To understand increasingly complex world around us we must learn basic concepts for comprehending society and social change. Basics of sociology deals with every day topics that concern all of us, as individuals and group members. We deal with the period since the beginning of industrial societies till today. Specific topics also include work and economic life, social stratification, organizations, city, media and politics

Course learning outcomes

to define and interpret sociological approach to modern society, to distinguish and apply basic sociological concepts, to apply different sociological theories on social problems, to connect contemporary social problems with broader social context, to describe and distinguish different levels and context of social change, to distinguish and connect dimensions of organizations with social structure, to describe, compare and analyze the role of administration in dealing with certain social issues ,
