COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

The teaching content includes the processing of professional texts and legal terminology within the framework of following texts: Vollmachten nach dem BGB, Beschraenkte Geschaeftsfaehigkeit nach deutschem Recht, Der Mietvertrag, Vertragsanfechtung wegen Irrtums, Haftpflichtrecht, Scheidungsreform in der Schweiz. The rules of word formation in the German language are introduced with an emphasis on the forms typical for the language of the law. An overview of complex grammatical structures and the rules of sequence of tenses in the area of ​​contractual sentences, indirect interrogative sentences, and noun and verb phrases typical of the German legal language is given. Special attention is paid to the forms of the subjunctive as a structure unknown in the Croatian language, which is necessary for the creation of conditional clauses as a typical sentence type used for communication in legal discourse.

Course learning outcomes

Distinguish between different types of legal texts., Apply the learned professional terminology in spoken and written communication in German., Demonstrate understanding of legal texts by retelling or answering questions, Adopt and correctly apply grammatical and lexical structures typical for the German language of the legal profession in the field of compulsory, contractual and family law., By analyzing a professional text, be able to find the keywords, the main idea and draw conclusions from the text and write a summary of the text.,
