COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

The teaching content includes the processing of professional texts and legal terminology within the framework of the topics: Erbrecht, Rechtsquellen des Gemeinschaftsrechts, Die Organe der EU, Die Schaffung des Binnenmarktes am Beispiel des freien Warenverkehrs, Deutsches Gesellschaftsrecht, Arbeitsrecht. An overview of complex grammatical structures in the subject, object, modal and conditional sentences is given as typical in the syntax of legal discourse. The approach to specific structures of the legal text is exercised as well as connectors and methods of the organization of specific genre texts. The skills of independent writing and composing official letters, applications, CVs, and summaries in the German language are practiced.

Course learning outcomes

Differentiate between different types of legal texts and primary and secondary sources of EU law., Apply the learned professional terminology in spoken and written communication in German., Demonstrate the understanding of legal texts by retelling or answering questions, Adopt and know how to properly apply grammatical and lexical structures typical of the German language of the legal profession in the field of European law, EU law and justice, and international law., Independently write applications for tenders, CVs, and official letters in the German language.,
