COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content
Subject Maritime and General Traffic Law provides students with a general overview and basic knowledge of all modes of transport law, with special emphasis on maritime law. The place of transport law in the system of legal and economic sciences is explained; transport contracts (goods and passengers), transport documents and liability for damage in all modes of transport are studied. Students learn about domestic and international transportation of goods by sea, inland waterways, and road, rail, and air traffic. The protection of passengers' rights in domestic and international transport by sea, inland waterways, road, rail and air is studied. It is also warned of environmental pollution that may occur as a result of the use of means of transport. The role of insurance in transport law (basic terms from insurance, compulsory insurance, casco insurance) is especially discussed.
Course learning outcomes
Define and describe certain institutes of maritime and general transport law (concept and division of maritime law, sources of maritime and general transport law, domestic and international, especially from the property law aspect) and transport insurance., Analyse and correctly interpret individual sources of maritime and general transport law and transport insurance., Analyse the legal regulation of certain modes of transport., Compare the modes of transport (similarities and differences of individual institutes, key persons, transport documents, liability for damage)., Differentiate the modes of transport (similarities and differences of individual institutes, key persons, transport documents, liability for damage)., Apply legal regulations on the liability of carriers in all modes of transport., Solve specific questions.,
