RESEARCH STAY REPORT

(IPIE Project – 581-UNIOS-88)

As part of the project Implementation and Enforcement Challenges of European Law on Selected Institutes in the Croatian Legal System (IPIE-581-UNIOS-88), a research stay was conducted from 3 to 9 June 2026 at the Cambridge Centre for Animal Rights Law at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. My hosts and collaborators during the research project were Faculty of Law lecturers, Dr Sean Butler of St Edmund’s College and Dr Raffael Fasel of Jesus College. The stay was conducted as part of the project activities aimed at examining animal protection within administrative law, specifically the role of local government in the field of animal welfare. The objective is to compare European regulations in the field of animal protection with the actual state of implementation of these same regulations in the Republic of Croatia and selected European states. The majority of the research stay involved working at the Squire Law Library within the Faculty of Law, alongside discussions and the exchange of expertise with the aforementioned colleagues and other academic researchers.
