RESEARCH STAY REPORT
(IPIE Project – 581-UNIOS-88)
Within the framework of the project “Implementation and Practical Challenges of European Law in Relation to Selected Legal Institutions in the Croatian Legal System” (581-UNIOS-88), Igor Vuletić, PhD, Full Professor, undertook a research stay at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law (Max-Planck-Institut zur Erforschung von Kriminalität, Sicherheit und Recht) in Freiburg. The research stay took place from 3 to 14 August 2026 and constituted one of the researcher’s obligations under the project. The institution was selected on the basis of its expertise in the field of criminal law, as well as its extensive library collection relevant to comparative legal research.
The research was conducted at the Institute’s library and focused on the criminalisation of medical errors. During the stay, the analysis of the relevant literature and case law was successfully completed, enabling the completion of a research paper on the subject. At the end of the research stay, the paper was submitted for peer review. The research stay was fully aligned with the project’s work plan and represents an important contribution to the achievement of its objectives, particularly with regard to strengthening international cooperation and enhancing research productivity. The activity is also consistent with the Research Strategy of the Faculty of Law in Osijek, particularly with regard to international mobility and the development of research competencies.
