Članovi Katedre obiteljskog prava Pravnog fakulteta Osijek – prof. dr. sc.

  • prof. dr. sc. Branka Rešetar – Good Laws and Bad Practices: Discrimination of Women in Croatia
  • izv. prof. dr. sc. Nataša Lucić – The role of social welfare institutions in protecting the child’s right to know his or her origin
  • asistent Matko Guštin, mag. iur. – The procedure for establishing adoption in the context of the protection of human and children’s rights.

Members of the Department of Family Law of the Faculty of Law Osijek – Branka Rešetar, Ph.D., Full Professor, Nataša Lucić, Ph.D., Associate Professor, and Matko Guštin, Assistant, LLM, participated in the international scientific conference of the International Social Work & Society Academy (TiSSA) “Social Work and human rights: advocating disruptive voices” from 25 to 30 August 2023.

The central topic of this 19th TiSSA conference, held at the Faculty of Law in Osijek, was focused on the discussion of vulnerable social groups, the protection of their rights, and inclusion in society. Except from the perspective of social work, this topic should also be viewed from the perspective of family law. As stated in the description of this year’s conference theme, “given the world faced with multiple crises, social work was challenged to radicalize its position as a human rights practice. This challenge exposes the interface between social work and legal systems and therefore encourages social work research and practice to look critically at law as a frame of reference. On the one hand, law can be a lever of social justice, while on the other hand, the introduction of law can only focus on establishing order and preserving power structures, opposing respect for diversity and basic humanity.“ More than 120 participants from 28 countries took part in the conference.

Members of the Department presented the papers:

  • Branka Rešetar, Ph.D., Full Professor – Good Laws and Bad Practices: Discrimination of Women in Croatia
  • Nataša Lucić, Ph.D., Associate Professor – The role of social welfare institutions in protecting the child’s right to know his or her origin
  • Matko Guštin, Assistant, LLM – The procedure for establishing adoption in the context of the protection of human and children’s rights.
