The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) opens new possibilities for its use in law-making and law application. The CEEPUS network “LexAI-CEE: AI, Legal Systems, and the Rule of Law in Central and Eastern Europe” aims to establish a regional academic platform for scientific research, teaching, and knowledge exchange on the implications of AI for legal systems in Central and Eastern Europe. The network seeks to connect faculties of law with established academic programs across all cycles of study to explore how AI technologies are transforming judicial and administrative decision-making and access to justice, while safeguarding the fundamental principles of the rule of law and human rights. The network will strengthen cooperation among partner institutions through student and staff mobility, encourage joint research on AI and law, organize summer schools and other academic events, and promote interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and policymakers.

The network has been officially approved with “Umbrella” status for the

2026/2027 academic year.
