COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge regarding the state and challenges of modern transport, new modes of transport, measures to improve urban traffic, and issues related to legal regulation. Modern transport is characterised by a high volume of vehicles—particularly in urban areas—which not only cause severe traffic congestion but also have a highly detrimental impact on the environment. Data also indicate a decline in road safety. However, with appropriate measures and programs, modern transport can become sustainable; students will be introduced to these possibilities. Key topics for discussion include the use of alternative, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient modes of transport, the use of alternative fuels, and vehicle-sharing systems. As legal regulations do not always keep pace with the evolution of modern transport, legal gaps arise; the course will highlight these issues and explore potential solutions. Modern transport also places significant emphasis on safety. Regarding passengers, recent regulations place special importance on the protection of their rights, with particular attention given to persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility. The goal is for students to recognise and understand these issues, draw their own conclusions, and propose solutions.
