U Dubrovniku je od 2. do 6. rujna 2024. održana konferencija School of Social Work Theory and Practice u organizaciji Inter University Centre Dubrovnik. Posebna sesija bila je posvećena temi nasilja u školi, a o kojoj se govorilo iz perspektive prava, sociologije i socijalnog rada. U suvremenom društvu sve veći broj djece pogođen je nasiljem u školi, a prema podacima UNICEF-a, oko 25% djece u Europi iskusilo je nasilje u školi i njegove negativne posljedice. Na konferenciji su sudjelovali i predstavnici Pravnog fakulteta Osijek te studenti Sveučilišnog prijediplomskog i Sveučilišnog diplomskog studija Socijalni rad s izlaganjima:

  • prof. dr. sc. Branka Rešetar i prof. dr. sc. Josip Berdica – Phenomenology of violence with analysis of international legal protection from violence
  • izv. prof. dr. sc. Nataša Lucić – Protection against Peer Violence in School – Legal Framework
  • izv. prof. dr. sc. Barbara Herceg Pakšić – Criminal Law in the Context of Peer Violence: is There a Possibility for Criminal Law Reaction?
  • Matko Guštin, mag. iur., asistent i Arnella Beneš (studentica treće godine Sveučilišnog prijediplomskog studija Socijalni rad) – The Child’s Right to a Safe Education and Protection from Violence
  • Dea Topić, studentica druge godine Sveučilišnog diplomskog studija Socijalni rad – The role of social work in secondary education – experience and perspective of professional associates in the area of the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County
  • Valerija Koprivnjak, studentica druge godine Sveučilišnog diplomskog studija Socijalni rad – The role of social workers in primary school education – the perspective of professionals in the area of Osijek-Baranja county.

Zaključak je sudionika konferencije, odnosno sesije, kako se radi o temi koja zaslužuje više rasprave u društvu te u konačnici, poduzimanje odgovarajućih (konkretnih) koraka u praksi kojima bi se osiguralo sigurno okruženje za djecu i spriječila daljnja nasilna postupanja. Osobito je naglašena potreba zapošljavanja socijalnih radnika u hrvatskim školama.


From 2 to 6 September 2024, the conference School of Social Work Theory and Practice was held in Dubrovnik, organized by the Inter University Center Dubrovnik. A special session was dedicated to school violence, which was discussed from the perspective of law, sociology, and social work. In contemporary society, an increasing number of children are affected by school violence, and according to UNICEF data, about 25% of children in Europe have experienced school violence and its negative consequences. The conference was attended by representatives of the Faculty of Law Osijek and students of the University’s Undergraduate Study and Graduate Study in Social Work with the presentation of papers:

  • Branka Rešetar, Ph.D., Full Professor and Josip Berdica, Ph.D., Full Professor – Phenomenology of violence with analysis of international legal protection from violence
  • Nataša Lucić, Ph.D., Associate Professor – Protection against Peer Violence in School – Legal Framework
  • Barbara Herceg Pakšić, Ph.D., Associate Professor – Criminal Law in the Context of Peer Violence: is There a Possibility for Criminal Law Reaction?
  • Matko Guštin, Master of Laws, Teaching Assistant, and Arnella Beneš, third-year student of the University Undergraduate Study Programme in Social Work – The Child’s Right to a Safe Education and Protection from Violence
  • Dea Topić, second-year student of University Graduate Study Programme in Social Work – The role of social work in secondary education – experience and perspective of professional associates in the area of the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County
  • Valerija Koprivnjak, second-year student of University Graduate Study Programme in Social Work – The role of social workers in primary school education – the perspective of professionals in the area of Osijek-Baranja county.

The participants conclude that this is a topic that deserves more discussion in society and, ultimately, the taking of appropriate (concrete) steps in practice to ensure a safe environment for children and prevent further violent acts. The need to employ social workers in Croatian schools was particularly emphasized.
