Osijek is centrally located at the heart of the region, approximately 250 kilometres from major international hubs in Zagreb and Budapest. Both cities are connected to Osijek via a modern highway network, ensuring a smooth and efficient commute.

For those preferring public transport, reliable and frequent daily bus services are available from Zagreb to Osijek, as well as from Osijek to Zagreb; schedules can be consulted on the official Arriva Croatia and FlixBus websites.

To ensure a stress-free arrival, the organizing committee is pleased to facilitate dedicated collective transfers (Zagreb/Budapest – Osijek and Osijek – Zagreb/Budapest), allowing participants to network with colleagues from the moment they land. The collective transfer service is available to participants at their own expense, with an estimated cost of 40,00 – 50,00 euros per person/direction.

Please note: Participants should indicate their arrival times at the airports when completing the registration form (registration form will be available after the call for abstracts closes), based on which collective transfers will be organized. Subsequently, you will be notified via e-mail regarding all further details.

Osijek takes pride in its exceptionally well-organized and easily accessible public transportation network. As a point of interest from the city’s rich history, it is worth noting that Osijek was the first city in Croatia to introduce a tramway system—a tradition that remains a cherished part of our urban identity today.

Participants may choose between a modern network of tram and bus lines connecting all key areas of the city. Detailed information regarding schedules and routes is available on the official website of Urban transport of passenger Ltd. (Gradski prijevoz putnika d.o.o.).

Regarding local transportation or more direct travel within the city, several taxi services are at your disposal. In addition to global platforms such as Bolt and Uber, the local applications Wizi Taxi and Osječki Taxi are also widely used (availabe in Google Play Store). Typically, a city ride (up to 5 kilometres) ranges from 4,50 to 5,00 euros, making taxi transport a very affordable option for symposium participants.

Osijek is a city of rich history, premium gastronomy, and hedonism. Some of the landmarks of Osijek include: the Secessionist street (European Avenue), the Co-cathedral of St. Peter and Paul from 1900, built in the Neo-Gothic style, the Old Town Tvrđa (which houses two museums and the Osijek University), the promenade, and Osijek’s bridges. More information about tourist attractions and events in Osijek is available on the official website of the Tourist Board of the City of Osijek.
