Jean Monnet projekti – EU_SHINE

Training

Children without accessible resources have multidimensional, deeply rooted struggles that make uncoordinated and fragmented support from educational, social welfare, and health systems insufficient. Although every fifth child in the European Union is at risk of poverty and social exclusion, they often stay invisible and without adequate support within the systems they interact with.

To make an intervention that is tailored to address children’s poverty but also feasible within a system that the child interacts with, professionals must have the competencies to provide support to positive development to those who are at risk of poverty. Jean Monnet module: EU_SHINE will strengthen these competencies through e-training and summer school.

Online training

Two e-trainings on working with children at risk of poverty will be available at the beginning of 2025 and again at the start of 2026. The e-training on supporting children at risk of poverty has 60 hours that are delivered through four modules. To finish an e-training, participants will need to submit a proposal of intervention/practice that aims at children at risk of poverty and reflects on challenges within the local professional context. Each participant who successfully finishes e-training will gain a certificate that explains their acquired competencies and duration of education.

The e-training will cover these modules:

Module 1 on factors that intersectionality shape children’s poverty and life trajectories as well as consequences of living in poverty.

Module 2 on mechanisms and policies through which the European Union and Croatia invest in children and support children at risk of poverty.

Module 3 on methods and techniques for working with children at risk of poverty, effective interventions.

Module 4 on developing interventions to support children living at risk poverty.

Who is online training intended for?

Children’s poverty is a topic that is relevant for all disciplines that interact with children at risk of poverty (social work, early childhood education and care, primary teaching, social pedagogy, pedagogy psychology, and local and regional level administrators). Professionals and students of all these professions are welcome to the training.
