COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course content

Mastering the contents of the following legal texts and corresponding professional terminology: Crime, Death and the Law, The Death Penalty, Marriage, Divorce, The Legal Character of International Law. Internalizing grammatical rules and structures typical of the English language of law, particularly the sequence of tenses in conditional clauses and the rules of usage of relative clauses. Understanding of professional legal texts is enhanced by learning the function of text connectors as well as recognizing different types of legal texts.

Course learning outcomes

After completing the course, the students will be able to: compare and critically analyse basic legal terminology in English , analyze in English the basic characteristics, origin and development of English law , define in English the basic terms and concepts of the Common Law , connect existing and new data when forming all types of simple and extended sentences, apply verb tenses common in everyday communication and in the context of the legal profession , apply newly acquired legal terminology in spoken and written communication in English, Independently present in English a paper related to some of the English legal terms.,
